Correspondence, 1938-1952, bulk: 1942-1949
Series 5 contains general correspondence, similar in content to the correspondence found in Series 1 of the William Green papers (RG1-019). While the correspondence does not reflect AFL policy directly, it generally stems from Green's office and involves Green's position as federation president and the influence of the office. The letters concern appointments, assistance, general greetings, general information, etc. The bulk of the letters date between 1942 and 1949. Some of the individuals or groups represented include J. H. Walker, George L. Berry, J. Edgar Hoover (re the Workmen's Circle), the American Jewish Congress, the American Council Against Nazi Propaganda, and the Workers Defense League.
