Photographs, circa 1871-1972
Photographs reflect Reckord's professional and personal life. The bulk of the photographs were taken between 1918 and 1970, documenting Reckord's military service in World War I and his military career. Comprising a significant portion of the series are individual and group portraits featuring Reckord, other military officials, and politicians, both in the studio and at various events and ceremonies. A group of photographs document deserted battlefields, routes, and German structures (such as dugouts, observation towers, and headquarters) in France in January 1919. The British Queen Mother's 1954 visit to Maryland and a parade held in Annapolis in her honor are depicted in several photographs. Images of family and friends constitute the remainder of the studio portraits and amateur photographs. Photographs from the Biographical Print Files were reintegrated into this collection.
