University of Maryland, circa 1930s-1980 and undated
Series 3 contains correspondence with University of Maryland students, faculty, and administrators; notes, outlines, syllabi, bibliographies, and recordings of lectures; and research grant materials related to Prange's tenure as a history professor at the University of Maryland. This series also contains correspondence related to the acquisition and transfer of a unique collection of Japanese published materials from the Civil Censorship Detachment (CCD) of the Allied occupation of Japan to the University of Maryland, which would later be named the Gordon W. Prange Collection in his honor. There is some correspondence, particularly with university president Harry C. Byrd and with Dr. Wesley Gewehr that relates to Prange's post-war military service in Japan and his research and writing on Pearl Harbor. This series is arranged in alphabetical order. A few photographs from Prange's tenure at the University of Maryland are located in series 9.
