Press Notice Compilations and Clippings, 1968-1984

 Series 11

This series consists of press compilations and clippings. Beginning in 1969, initially through the association with Carl Byoir, CTW received clips of national press notices which contained a mention of CTW or any of its activities. The educational mandate of CTW and the great visibility of Sesame Street generated an enormous volume of press. Some of this was duplicative, as when a wire service story was picked up in local newspapers around the country. These clips were supplemented from time to time by minority press coverage not generally culled by the commercial clipping services. As Sesame Street went into distribition outside the US, foreign clipping services were sometimes contracted. The CTW public affairs department regularly produced compilations of these notices, selecting those which were of special interest or representative. These "Clip Reports" (sometimes "Press Digests") were printed and/or Xeroxed and distributed to senior CTW staff, and often to funders and friends of the corporation.

This series has been arranged into the following subseries: Press Notice Compilations and Original Press Clippings.
