Memorabilia

 Series 11

This series consists of 131 three-dimensional memorabilia, including awards and medals; paintings; drawings; etching; framed items; pieces of furniture; assorted objects, including jewelry, Mexican pottery, glass bottles, a Japanese calendar, and statues; scrapbooks; and textiles and apparel, including linens and doctoral hoods. The objects were owned and used by Porter or donated for display in the Katherine Anne Porter Room. Porter gave many of them in the late 1960s to be displayed in the Katherine Anne Porter Room. Additional pieces were given by Paul Porter, her nephew; by Barrett Prettyman, her lawyer from 1962 to 1980; or by William and Fern Wilkins and Clark Dobson, close friends in the 1970s.

Memorabilia items have been placed in six categories: Awards and Medals; Caricature, Drawings, Framed Items, and Paintings; Furniture; Objects; Scrapbooks; and Textiles and Apparel. They are arranged in no particular order within those categories.

Use and Access to Collection

This collection is open to the public, non-circulating, and must be used in the Special Collections Reading Room. Researchers must register and agree to copyright and privacy laws before using this collection.
